Too Much Emphasis on Blinding Satan?

Too Much Emphasis on Blinding Satan?

Do we place too much emphasis on blinding Satan? Some may object to The Flame of Love Movement because of how much attention we pay to this subject. In fact, Elizabeth Kindemann stated it was the whole purpose of The Flame of Love:

. . . . this priest understood the essential message, which is ‘to blind Satan.’ This is the principal and only purpose of the Flame of Love of the Blessed Virgin.

The Spiritual Diary (First Edition); Elizabeth Kindelmann; p. 198

What about grace? What about the salvation of souls? What about Jesus?

As I sat before Jesus in the Tabernacle the other day, I asked what He wanted to do with our time. Rather than talking over Flame of Love issues or praying a Rosary or remaining in listening silence, I sensed that I should immerse myself in His Word and particularly in the chapter the Bible on my phone was set to – I John 3.

“The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.” (I John 3:8 NASB)

So it appears we are right on target! And there is more. This is a continuing process:

“For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.” (I Cor 15:25 NASB)
“When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.” (I Cor 15:28 NASB).

This “war of displacement”, of filling the world so full of Jesus by the power of grace so that there is no room left for Satan, continues in us:

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” (II Cor 10:3-5 NASB)

So, yes, it is Jesus in us by grace and spreading this grace throughout the world that “destroys the works of the devil” or, as we would say it, “blinds Satan.” If we read the rest of the above quote from Elizabeth, we see that she, too, understood the connection between grace and blinding Satan:

” . . . . this priest understood the essential message, which is ‘to blind Satan.’ This is the principal and only purpose of the Flame of Love of the Blessed Virgin. She, herself, promised an outpouring of graces so great as have not happened on earth since the Word became Flesh.”

The Spiritual Diary (First Edition); Elizabeth Kindelmann; p. 198

So rest assured that we are fully aligned with Jesus and the Church with our emphasis on blinding Satan. It is why He appeared and He continues to do so by the power of mercy and grace – the greatest outpouring of grace since He was made flesh. Mercy and Grace working together so that the damage Satan has done is repaired, his ability to do damage in the future is displaced, and the world is renewed. Peace.
