Prayer: O Jesus, I seek only to be your friend.
Imagination: (Picture Jesus teaching at the Last Supper)
Context: After showering his own love upon the disciples, Jesus asks that they love one another. Before asking for this love, he has made them his friends and has chosen them for an important task.
Gospel Text: (Read slowly, possibly aloud.)
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love than this no man has, that a man lay down his life for his friend. You are my friends, if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know what his Lord does. I have called you friends because I have made known to you all that I have heard from the Father.
You have not chosen me. I have chosen you and have appointed you to go and bring forth abiding fruit, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
