Shining Like Lights
How holy and great is the virtue of obedience. Until today, I had not thought about it as I do now. Also, I pondered how my soul will become shining because of obedience. I made a firm resolve to accept with greater fidelity and surrender what I receive, whether directly from the Lord Jesus, or indirectly through my confessor. (Elizabeth) (July 7-8, 1965)
Today’s Readings: Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world (Philippians 2)
Prayer Meditation- Lord, it is so rare to find anyone today who is not complaining about something. Even in the Church we find ourselves, grumbling, complaining, and fault finding. We do not want to accept the crosses that You have for us with faith and surrender. Lord, put a guard on our mouths today that we would offer You our praise and so shine like lights in a world so in need of our witness as Children of God. Help us, as in Today’s Gospel, to carry our crosses free of the chains that still tie us to the world!
