Meditating On The Voice of God
Also, if I read a phrase which touches me, I meditate on it. The material for my meditation these past months has been one phrase: “And the Word became Flesh.” This is an inexhaustible theme and I always meditate on it. (Elizabeth) (Full Diary Page 147)
Today’s Readings: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching,
for refutation, for correction,
and for training in righteousness,
so that one who belongs to God may be competent,
equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3)
Prayer Meditation- Lord, as Catholic Christians we are blessed to have writings of saintly mystics such as Elizabeth Kindelmann and St. Faustina and the doctors of the Church such as Saint Catherine and Saint Teresa of Avila who have all heard from You. But what we forget is that all of us can hear Your Voice every day in Your Word. All Scripture is inspired by You and useful to teach us, correct us, and train us in the way that we should go (Psalm 32:8). We can meditate on Your Word- no need for some analytical Bible study though that may have its place but let us pick up Your Word, maybe in the Mass Readings each morning, and meditate on what You are speaking to our hearts each morning. Even just one phrase, such as “And the Word became Flesh” can lead us to inexhaustible medication. You speak each morning to us- Your mercies are new each morning (Lamentations 3:22-23. ) Let us meditate on Your Word and even speak it out loud during the day as we grow closer to knowing Your Heart for us!
