Least Among You

“You are the smallest, the most ignorant and the least meritorious soul that I ever found so as to bring these graces. In spite of that, through your littleness and humility, I want to send forth my messages.” (Mary) (January 14, 1963)

Today’s Readings: “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me,
and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
For the one who is least among all of you
is the one who is the greatest.” (Luke 9)

Prayer Meditation- Lord, we can feel so small and powerless- in this world it is so easy to feel that we are just not enough. And we try to make up for it by making ourselves seem bigger- like the disciples we try to make ourselves the greatest but inside we just feel this insecurity, like John who in the next line of the Gospel wants to eliminate the competition because “ he does not follow in our company”. It seems in so many ways we are just jockeying for position. But Lord it is not always the smartest ones or the most talented or the ones with the most resources that You use. Because it is through littleness and humility that You work best- Your grace is sufficient for us no matter what we know is lacking in ourselves because Your power is made perfect in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9).
