Thirty Third Sunday of Ordinary Time

Learning from the Fig Tree

The moment is near, so be patient. I can hardly wait for your arrival. My Elizabeth, My little one! I draw you close to My Heart. You will receive a tremendous reward for all the sufferings that you have accepted for My work of Salvation.” (Jesus) (October 2, 1963)

Today’s Readings- “Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things happening ,know that he is near, at the gates (Mark 13)

Prayer Meditation- Lord, it is that time of the liturgical year- end times readings! It is so easy to get caught up in all kinds of theories, signs and anxieties but the truth of the matter is we all will individually have an end time. So, when we look at the fig trees of our own lives what do we see? Are our hearts tender and bearing much fruit because we know that You are always near, always ready to welcome us? Do we picture You awaiting our arrival in Heaven when we will see You face to face? Does this picture in our minds cause us to feel hope and expectancy and not fear? Lord Jesus come now- into our hearts and our lives and never leave us!
