Today’s Consuming Fire Meditation- – A Daily Dose of the Flame of Love Diary Served Up with Today’s Scriptures
Sunday of the Twenty Sixth Week of Ordinary Time
Lazarus At The Door
“Look where I walk. Abandoned in towns and in cities, wherever you look, you see Me, poorly dressed. (Jesus) (November 29, 1962)
Today’s Readings: Jesus said to the Pharisees:
“There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen
and dined sumptuously each day.
And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps
that fell from the rich man’s table. (Luke 16)
Prayer Meditation- Lord, it is so easy to walk past poverty and need especially in our affluent nation. In fact, so many of us walk around with phones and earbuds- could we even hear the cry of the poor.? And yet it is that distraction that leads to the sins of omission. Because Lord, we may easily be walking past not only real poverty but that poverty Mother Teresa spoke of in the West- the poverty of loneliness, of hunger for love and hunger for You. We may not even have to walk past it in the streets because this poverty may well exist in our workplaces and in our families. Yes, in our rich nation poverty abounds and by being too busy, distracted, or indifferent to deal with it we literally walk past You, Jesus in disguise. Lord open our eyes and help us to see- break our hearts for what breaks Yours!
