Today’s Consuming Fire Meditation- – A Daily Dose of the Flame of Love Diary Served Up with Today’s Scriptures
Saturday of the Twenty Seventh Week of Ordinary Time
Hearing the Word and Keeping It
“And the Word became Flesh. Penetrate and live in this sublime mystery, which signifies the Redemption of the world.” (Jesus) (October 15, 1962)
Today’s Readings: While Jesus was speaking,
a woman from the crowd called out and said to him,
“Blessed is the womb that carried you
and the breasts at which you nursed.”
He replied, “Rather, blessed are those
who hear the word of God and observe it.” (Luke 11)
Prayer Meditation- Lord, we hear today Your Praise of Your Mother, not for Her relationship to You but for Her hearing the Word and observing it. Our Lady as Your First Disciple is the perfect student of the Word. Because what does it mean really to hear the Word of the Lord, in Sacred Scripture and in Liturgy, and to keep it? Saint James, in his epistle, tells us to be doers of the Word and not just hearers of the Word. Because if we are a doer of the Word who acts, and not just a hearer of the Word who then goes on living the same mediocre life, we will be blessed in what we do (James 1-22-25). Our Blessed Mother lived perfectly both attentive listening to Your Word and obedience in acting on the Word in every moment of Her life. Mother Mary pray for us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers only! Let us meditate on Sacred Scripture daily and live in the sublime mysteries of our Redemption and our salvation story!
