Finishing The Course

Let those souls whom I have chosen do everything to prepare for the great mission ahead. (Mary) (May 4, 1962).

Today’s Readings: Yet I consider life of no importance to me,
if only I may finish my course
and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus,
to bear witness to the Gospel of God’s grace. (Acts 20).

Prayer Reflection- O Lord ,we love You, we bless You, and we adore You because You have chosen us, each one of us, to a great mission ahead. Today we read about how St. Paul after spending time in ministry in Ephesus, knew it was time to move on- as he tells them they will never see his face again as he is compelled to move on to Jerusalem. All of  us are called to mission, yet not all new missions and transitions are necessarily what we may expect. The older we get, the more we learn to detach- to consider this life of no importance as we finish our course, to be faithful to You! Those later missions in life may well be silent and even lonely as we care for and eventually lose loved ones and may involve suffering which may be all we can offer to You after an active life as we face aging. Goodbyes and transitions are hard and yet You always prepare us for where our life’s great mission is now calling us. Lord may our lives always bear witness to Your Gospel of Grace in all seasons of life!
