Depart From Me-Qualifying The Called

Today’s Consuming Fire Meditation- – A Daily Dose of the Flame of Love Diary Served Up with Today’s Scriptures

Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Depart from Me- Qualifying the Called

For a long time, He allowed me to feel His presence filled with goodness and majesty. As an insignificant person, really less than nothing, I felt great emotion. I could only babble: “Depart from me, O Lord, I am a great sinner.” (Elizabeth) (August 16, 1962)

Today’s Readings: When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him, and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners of Simon. (Luke 5)

Prayer Meditation- Lord, You know we are not worthy! You do not choose the best. When we are overwhelmed by Your Grace- sometimes we just want to run because we see how insignificant and sinful we really are! But Lord- You do not call the qualified, You qualify the called! Help all of us today to know and understand our call and vocation- realizing that we can do nothing without Your Grace! Fill us with Your Grace in Your Word, through prayer, and in the Sacraments! Without You we can do nothing! (John 15:5)
