A Widow’s Mite

Jesus said, “I want to give you great graces, but you must renounce yourself completely. ”Elizabeth writes: These were harsh words for my reason. This is why I asked Him, “Am I capable of doing this?” Jesus responded, “You must only will it; leave the rest up to Me.” (Jesus) (1961-1962)

Today’s Readings: Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.” (Mark 12)

Prayer Meditation- Today we have the stories of two widows in the Liturgy of the Word- they gave their all to You! Lord, You ask for our everything but we so often want to hold back. We hold on to so many things, be they material or spiritual, because we are afraid of what will happen if we give ourselves away. We wonder, are we capable of renouncing ourselves so that You can fill us with Your Graces. Lord, help us to stop giving You only from our surplus but to truly give You all that we have and are- help us to will it and to leave the rest up to You! Jesus, we trust in Your Providence in all things!
