A Widow’s Mite

As a result, I concluded that my abject poverty made that project vanish altogether from my mind. Despite that, my desire to become a religious missionary was continually growing deep in my soul. There was no way I could suspect that God had other plans for me. (Elizabeth) (Biography)

Today’s Readings: He said, “I tell you truly,
this poor widow put in more than all the rest;
for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.” (Luke 21)

Prayer Meditation- Lord, we read today about the poor widow who gave all that she had as compared to those who just give what they may have had left over. This can certainly apply to our material giving and need to tithe but this also applies to our spiritual giving. How many Catholics and Christians think going to Church on Sunday is all that they have to do? How many these days think even that is too much?  Lord, create in us generous hearts that we would want to offer all that we are- to give You our hearts and not just our leftover time. Even us busy people can live totally for You if we keep our minds and hearts lifted to You and offer each moment of our day for Your Glory and to save souls!
